Our Musical Journey

The Children’s Choir of Southern New Jersey is more than a youth ensemble — it is a living tribute to community, heritage, and the transformative power of music. Founded as part of the Chicken Bone Beach Historical Jazz Foundation’s mission to educate, inspire, and uplift the region’s young voices, this choir nurtures a lifelong love of singing while celebrating the rich cultural legacy of Atlantic City and Southern New Jersey.

Rooted in the spirit of inclusion and artistic excellence, the choir brings together children ages 8 to 18 for weekly rehearsals and performance opportunities that strengthen musical skill, self-esteem, and community connection. Open to all young singers with a passion for music, the choir provides a supportive space where each member’s voice contributes to something greater than the sum of its parts.

Over the seasons, the choir has graced stages in local venues, collaborated with regional partners like Stockton University, and presented inspiring concerts that highlight the talent and dedication of its young performers. Through every note sung and story shared, The Children’s Choir of Southern New Jersey continues to honor the past while lifting voices toward a harmonious future.

Choir

Vocal Excellence

At the heart of our program is a commitment to vocal excellence and musical artistry. The Children’s Choir of Southern New Jersey is a professional-level youth ensemble where singers receive structured, age-appropriate training focused on healthy vocal technique, sight-reading, diction, blend, and expressive performance.

Under the guidance of accomplished educators and professional musicians, singers learn to perform confidently across a wide range of musical styles—from classical masterworks to Broadway, jazz, and contemporary repertoire.

Rehearsals emphasize discipline, collaboration, and musical growth while fostering a joyful and encouraging environment where every voice matters.

Workshops

Skill Development

In addition to weekly rehearsals, singers benefit from specialized workshops and hands-on instruction led by experienced conductors, university faculty, and professional performers.

These sessions deepen musical understanding and refine performance skills, covering areas such as:

  • Vocal technique and healthy singing habits

  • Musical interpretation and expressive storytelling

  • Performance etiquette and stage presence

  • Ensemble singing and musicianship

Our teaching artists include directors and collaborators affiliated with institutions such as Stockton University, area high schools, and respected music organizations, offering young performers exposure to college-level and professional expectations in a supportive setting.

Performances

Showcase Talent

Members of the choir gain exceptional performance experience rarely available to young singers. Over the past four years, the choir has appeared in prestigious concerts, festivals, and professional productions, performing alongside orchestras, professional musicians, and nationally recognized artists.

Notable performances and collaborations include:

  • Orchestral works with the Bay Atlantic Symphony

  • Appearances connected to the Foreigner World Tour at the Hard Rock Café

  • Performances at the Cape May Jazz Festival
